Rafael Carvalho vs. Melvin Manhoef II will serve as the main event of Bellator 176 in Italy

A middleweight championship rematch between reigning champion Rafael Carvalho vs. Melvin Manhoef will serve as the main event of Bellator 176, which takes place inside Pala Alpitour in Torino, Italy on Saturday, April 8.

Bellator officials announced the bout in a press release on Monday.

Carvalho (13-1) earned a controversial split decision over Manhoef at Bellator 155 in May. The Brazilian previously won his 185-pound Bellator title from Brandon Halsey with a vicious second-round knockout in October 2015. .

Over his six-year professional career, the 30-year-old Carvalho has collected 10 knockout wins, including five coming within the first-round.

Manhoef (30-13-1), a former Strikeforce veteran, will be making his sixth appearance under the Bellator MMA banner and first since his initial loss to Carvalho during the main event of Bellator 155. The man known as “No Mercy” has collected victories in three of his past five bouts, all of which have come by way of first round knockout, including a vicious finish over Hisaki Kato. To date, 28 of his 30 Manhoef’s career victories have come by way of knockout, as well as nine additional knockouts in the kickboxing ring.

In addition, Bellator Kickboxing 5 will immediately follow the mixed martial arts card. In the main event, flyweight Denise Kielholtz (46-3) will put his title on the line against ISKA and WKU World champion Martine Michieletto (34-12-5). Also appearing on the kickboxing card will be the iconic Giorgio Petrosyan (83-2-2, 1NC) as he squares off against Romanian veteran Amansio Paraschiv (23-5-1).

Both cards will air on SPIKE in America and further broadcast details will be announced shortly.
