This is the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.
On one level, things are quiet in the mixed martial arts world right now. There isn’t a ton of major news to pore over. No major events looming, no huge riffs between top stars, no fighter pay grumbling (at least not as much as we’ve seen in other times), no major USADA controversies, etc. Still, there are some other interesting developments taking place, many of which reside within Bellator.
There’s the free agent acquisitions, for starters. Lorenz Larkin and Ryan Bader are now Bellator fighters, which is no small change. Both of those fighters are expected to be on the Bellator 180 card in June, which represents Belltor’s first foray into the New York market and Madison Square Garden, specifically. It also represents their first foray into pay-per-view market in the Scott Coker era. I always find the push out of television for a television company to be a bizarre one, depending on the circumstances. We’ll dig deeper on this one today.
Other topics are of note. Andy Foster of the Nevada Athletic Commission is determined to make progress on the elimination or limited practice of weight cutting in MMA. The dispute between Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw is simmering. And, I suppose, there’s no way to get away from Mayweather-McGregor talk, is there?
There’s a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today’s chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at our normal time of 1 p.m. ET.
As is customary, I’ll post the video window here as the event draws near and I’ll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Be sure that you click the ‘rec’ button for those comments/questions you believe most deserve a response.
Be sure to link this page and use the hashtag #chatwrappers on Twitter or even Facebook when you’re watching this to let everyone know you’re taking part in this activity of ours.
